Advancing Essential Insights for the Second Harvest Cycle in the Amazon Rainforest

In October, we proudly formalized a collaborative partnership by signing a grant agreement with Imaflora and Esalq/USP. This innovative project is designed to deliver crucial information concerning timber stocks and production from forests entering their second harvest cycle.

Our primary goal is to gain and disseminate knowledge to highlight the potential of second-cycle forests. In particular, forests that have been responsibly managed in the first cycle offer sustainable opportunities for timber production. They have valuable timber resources and a species composition that meets the needs of the markets. With this initiative, we want to sensitise key players in the tropical timber supply chain to the economic viability of second-cycle production forests. The aim is to ensure that these forests continue to be used sustainably and withstand the growing pressure of unsustainable activities, which often leads to deforestation.
