Practice-relevant research projects

Research into tropical forests and sustainably used forest areas provides scientifically substantiated data, facts and findings for their long-term conservation through sustainable use. PRECIOUS FORESTS FOUNDATION (PFF) therefore promotes application-oriented research projects generating new findings which significantly will improve the preconditions for the conservation of tropical forests through their sustainable use.
The foundation invites potential project initiators to submit project proposals. There are many starting points for research supported by PFF: next to improved methods for the sustainable, multiple use of forest products, the performance of managed tropical forests as CO2 sinks is to be analysed. This is because ecosystem services must be incorporated into national and global climate strategies. Support will also be given to projects that investigate the development of the biodiversity value of managed forests. The creation of jobs as an alternative to slash-and-burn subsistence agriculture is another subject of applied research and implementation projects.
