December 2023: The Borneo Initiative (TBI) and the Precious Forests Foundation (PFF) are delighted to announce the release of test results evaluating the carbon potential of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) concessions in Indonesia. Facilitated by the Carbon Feasibility Checklist (FC), mandated by PFF and developed by Form International, this initiative aims to empower forest managers in tropical regions to assess the carbon revenue potential of their concessions.

Contribution towards a sustainable future: Tropical forests play a pivotal role in global climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. However, SFM lacks adequate funding, necessitating increased resource mobilization. Recognizing the crucial role of well-managed forests, the FC is a robust and user-friendly tool. It aids forest managers in assessing the carbon potential of their concessions, thereby enhancing the economic viability of their operations.

Key findings underscore that carbon revenue in SFM concessions is most effective as part of a comprehensive strategy rather than a standalone focus. This multifaceted approach not only prevents deforestation but also safeguards biodiversity and fosters social values. For a detailed exploration of study results, delve into the findings here:
